Scheduled Horse Shows and Clinics:

CGA District 8 Tri-County Riders has a show scheduled on the 1st Saturday of each month (March 1st, April 5th, May 3rd, September 6th, October 4th, and November 1st).  This is a gymkhana club with a division for any level of rider from beginners to advanced and is very family oriented.  You can join and sign up at their shows and even learn the events as you go.  Awesome awards at each show and even better year-end awards!  This club has tons of information on their website - check them out.

Gold Coast Barrel Racing has barrel races scheduled on (April 27th and June 21st).  Gold Coast has introduced a Future Champion Division to their races and offers different ways to take home the money, including Barrel Bingo.  Edie is a wonderful gal and has put together a great group of folks.  They are open to suggestions to help make this club rewarding and fun for their riders.  Check out their website for more details.

Buck Brannaman Colt and Horsemanship Clinic May 16-19th.  You can schedule to have your horse in the clinic or come by and watch Buck work his magic (fees do apply).  Contact Carolyn at (831) 729-3433 for details.  Buck Brannaman travels more then 40 weeks a year doing colt starting, horsemanship, ranch roping and cow working clinics. Buck's style of riding and working with horses leans toward he vaquero style of making bridle horses.  This style of riding compliments any riding discipline.  Buck's students range fro hunter/jumper dressage, endurance, trail riders, ranch horse and arena horse enthusiasts.

  • Colt Starting 4 days - 9 a.m.-12p.m. $600 (Limit 12 horses)
    This class is for un-started horses or horses that need to be restarted.  The class will start with groundwork and then move on to riding the colts or restarts, as they are ready.  The owner of their rider will handle and ride their own horses.

  • Horsemanship 1 4 days 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. $500 (Limit 25 horses)
    This is considered the snaffle bit class, for horses that are already started but are not yet ready to go on to the two rein.  A snaffle is not required but encouraged.  Students ride their own horses through a series of exercises and movements to help improve their horse's lateral and longitudinal flexion and build better communication between the horse and rider.

  • Cow-Working 4 days (4:40-6:30) $500/Plus cow fee (Limit 15 riders)
    Learn how your horse's position influences a cow's movement.  And how through working a cow ou can help your horse learn to adjust his speed and position.

    Spectator fee is $25 day (Seniors and Kids under 12 are FREE). No pre-registration for spectators.  Overnight horse care facilities are available, space is limited.
