General Rules - Boarders and Visitors

Take Pride!  Keep your stall, tack room and and common areas clean.  Rake up horse hair, hoof picking mess and manure from wash racks or isles.  If you load it into a wheelbarrow, dump it out in the waste pile behind the barns.

1. No drug or alcohol use - anywhere, anytime!

2. Smoking in designated areas only.  No smoking inside barns.

3. ALL Stable visitors must sign a visitor release form - no exceptions.  If you bring a visitor on-site it is your responsibility to get the release signed before your guest enters the barn area as well as inform them of Stable Rules.  Releases are signed ON TIME only.

4. Please park only in designated areas and drive no faster than 5 mph while on Stable property.  Under no circumstances may you honk your horn, permit your car alarm to go off or otherwise allow your vehicle to make noises likely to spook horses.  Motorcycles allowed in parking lot only.

5. Balloons, firecrackers and other potentially noise-making items are prohibited.

6. You and your guests must wear closed-toe footwear at all times on Stable premises, even if not riding or handling a horse. Bare feet, sandals or other footwear that leaves feet exposed could result in broken bones.

7. Stable premises hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  If you plan on bringing visitors on-site after those hours, please notify management.

8. You and your guests must conduct yourselves with dignity and good sportsmanship.  Your guests are your responsibility.

9. Stable has a zero tolerance policy for abuse of any animal or person. For example, we consider it abuse to use any kind of whip or spur that leaves marks on your horse.

10. Please do not enter any buildings on the Stable property other than the barns without asking Stable management first.  If you board in Barn 1 you may visit friends in Barn 2 and visa-versa but if you are not visiting, please do not hang out in the barn you do not board in.  Do not take your horse into the opposite barn.

11. If you go through a closed gate, close it behind you.  Please chain gates shut to prevent them from swinging open, this includes arenas and turnouts.

12. If you are the last person to leave the premises in the evening, please close the barn doors and turn
off all lights as appropriate.

13.  Holiday stall decorations are permitted and encouraged but must be taken down within two weeks of each holiday.

14.  Do not, under any circumstances go through another boarders tack box or personal belongings or borrow equipment or supplies without permission.  Borrowing without permission is stealing!

15.  Stable has provided water troughs for turnouts.  If you use the turnouts, it is your responsibility to ensure there is water in the trough for your horse as we do not check them daily.  If it's low, rinse it out and fill it up but please be careful, there might be goldfish in them.

Children

Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, unless such child's parents receive permission from Stable management. Small children must be in hand at all times. Under no circumstances may you allow your children to yell, run or otherwise spook the horses. No baby strollers, bicycles, motorized vehicles or toys likely to spook horses are permitted on Stable premises without prior permission from Stable management.

Dog or other animals Policy:

No dogs or other animals (cats, etc.) on the Stable premises, anywhere, anytime without permission from Stable management.  We do have a Horse Hotel service.  Visitors that are utilizing this service and traveling from out of town, may be allowed to bring their animals, with management's permission.

Barn Safety and Etiquette

1. You must keep your horse under control at all times. We do not consider ground tying or leading your horse without a halter or bridle to be adequate means of controlling your horse. If your horse is feeling frisky, please consider using a stud chain to lead him.

2. Please pick up and put away tack, manure forks and all other equipment in designated areas when you are done using them.  If you have used a wheelbarrow, empty it and put it back where you found it when you are done.  Do not leave it for someone else to dump.

3. Please do not borrow or handle other boarders' tack, equipment or horses without asking them first.  This includes feeding other boarders' horses treats.

4. You are responsible for storing and securing your own equipment. If you have valuable equipment and are concerned about theft, please consider taking your equipment home when not in use.

5. When you are done grooming or washing your horse, please remove all manure, hoof pickings and loose hair and dispose of them in designated areas.  This includes grooming in the isles or wash rack.  It is your job to clean up after yourself.

6. Please tie your horse only in designated tie areas. All horses must be tied with a quick-release knot or panic snap.  You may tie to your stall if it has mats in front of it, but please tie around at least three bars.  Do not tie to another boarders stall without permission.

7. Do not help yourself to hay or bedding.  If you need hay for a trip let management know ahead of time so we can leave your horse's feeding out for you.

8. If your horse is tied in a place where others want to pass through, please move your horse promptly so that they can pass safely.

9. If you keep feed, treats or anything else edible on the Stable premises, you must store it in a rodent- and insect- proof container.  If you keep food or treats in the stall isle, the container must twist or lock somehow in case a horse gets loose.

10. You must provide a properly fitted halter and lead rope for each of your horses and store them in plain view on your stall door, as applicable.  For the safety of your horse, please do not leave halters on your horses in their stall.

11. If you notice damage to your horse's stall, paddock or pasture, please inform Stable management immediately.

12. Please do not play radios, CD players, etc. on Stable premises. If you require music or other audio  for your riding, please ask Stable management first - IPODs are encouraged.

13.  Please keep the tack room, isles and all other areas clean and neat.

Riding Safety and Arena Etiquette

1. Helmet Policy

Stable requires all riders under the age of 18 to wear a properly fitted, approved riding helmet with the chinstrap securely fastened.

Stable requires all riders who are jumping to wear a properly fitted, approved riding helmet with the chinstrap securely fastened.

3. Jumping Policy

No one may jump on Stable premises without prior permission from Stable management.

4. Riders must use tack that allows them to control their horses.

5.  Riders may not longe your horse when others are riding in the arena unless you receive permission to longe from riders in the arena. If longeing in the arena with riders, you must keep your horse under control and not interfere with others who are riding.

6. Riding belongs in the arena, round pen and other areas designated for riding, not on the lawn, etc.

7. Please treat other riders with consideration and respect. Riders going in opposite directions must pass left-shoulder to left-shoulder and riders going in the same direction must pass only on the outside.  Slow riders to the middle, please.  Please leave at least one horse-length between your horse and other horses. If your horse is green or feeling frisky, please do not ride in a crowded arena, especially if other green horses or novice riders are present, and warn other riders in the arena so that they may treat you with extra caution. If you are in doubt, yield to the other riders and call out your direction (e.g., "Passing on the outside," "Heads up."). We expect more experienced riders to help less experienced riders by yielding the right of way to novice riders and green horses and politely pointing out any unsafe arena use.

8. Riders using equipment such as jumps, barrels or poles must remove equipment from the arena and store it in designated areas after using it, unless otherwise specified by management. If there are riders already in the arena, please ask them before setting up your equipment, as some horses may be spooked by rolling barrels and other equipment setup.

9. Please do not use other boarders' poles, jumps, barrels or other arena equipment without asking first.

10. Turnout Policy:

Turnout time shall not exceed 120 minutes.

Turnouts are only permitted in the areas designated by Stable. No turnouts are permitted in other locations.  Riders have priority over turnouts for arena use. If you have your horse turned out in the arena when someone wants to ride, you must remove your horse from the arena as soon as possible.  Riders waiting to ride in the arena must politely ask those with turned-out horses to remove them from the arena.

Only 1 horse at a time in turnout.

In order to maintain the integrity of our turnouts (worms, viruses), guest horses are not allowed to use them.  If you see a guest using a turnout, please politely ask them to remove their horse.

Absolutely no turnout in the big arena!

11. If any rider falls, all other riders must immediately halt their horses and dismount, immobilize the rider, then inform Stable management and assist the fallen rider in catching his or her horse.

12. If any horse gets loose, whether inside or outside of the arena, all riders must halt and dismount until the loose horse is caught.  If a horse gets loose outside an arena the closes person to the main gate should shut the gate until the loose horse is caught.

13. Do not sit, lean on or tie to any fences.

Day Use and Monthly Members:

1). You are responsible for knowing and following Stable Rules.  Failure to do so will result in loss of use privileges.

2).  On your first visit, you must sign a Release of Liability Form before unloading your horse.  These are located in the main barn next to the office.

3).  You must pay use fees BEFORE unloading your horse.  If you are caught riding and your fee has not been paid, you may loose the privilege to ride at R.O.A.R.S.

4).  You may not use turnouts for any reason, including watering your horse.

5).  Due to our very expensive sprinkler system, horses may not be turned out in the main arena, not even to roll.  If you need to turn them loose to roll, use the smaller arena next to the parking lot.  Turnout in this arena must be supervised - do not let your horse chew the wood or push on the boards to eat the grass.

6).  You may not take your horse into the barns for any reason.

7).  There is a hose and bucket provided for you at the snack bar next to the arena.  You may water and wash down your horse in that area.

8).  Read the rules above especially "Riding Safety and Arena Etiquette"

9).  Do not empty your trash from your trucks and trailers into our receptacles.  Our dump runs cost the same as yours - take your trash home.  Trash receptacles are for ranch trash only.  Fast food and restaraunt bags, diapers, boot boxes, etc. should be taken home with you.

Why do we charge the fee?  Our goal is to keep R.O.A.R.S. open to the community for riding.  However, it is necessary to charge a fee.  Each horse that is worked in the arena tears up the ground or packs the rail.  The more riders we have the more often we have to work the ground.  With diesel continuing to rise, we do not foresee the opportunity to lower our fee and may eventually have to raise it.  To date, the fee has only covered the cost of diesel and does not cover the cost of the additional insurance that we have to pay to allow the public to use the facility.

Why no dogs?  Insurance is very expensive to add on visiting dogs.  Dogs are not allowed on the property and especially not to "go potty" - we don't want to clean it up and nobody wants to step or sit in that.  Please leave them at home or in your car, truck, or trailer.  Horse Hotel guests may be permitted to bring their dog when traveling from out of town, this is with management's approval only.  We will need to know the breed and size of your dogs to make this decision.  In addition to insurance Bio-security is of utmost importance to us and we do not allow animals on-site that do not have proof of vaccinations.

Enjoy your ride and we hope you and your horse have a wonderful ride at R.O.A.R.S.
