We had a camp .. we invited 6 kids to join us
for our trial camp. It was a blast!
Tammypi had a really bad
horse accident at a show the day before camp started and was
drug about 60 feet at a full run on the side of her horse
Luke. Needless to say, she was pretty banged up and
bruised, with a concussion and many pulled muscles.
Taylor Prichard and Tori Mount stepped up and helped run the
camp so that we wouldn't have to cancel it. Thank you
Tori and Taylor - we wouldn't have been able to do it
without you! Hopefully, we'll always have willing
teenagers to help us run our camps!
Below are some photos we were able to snap during camp.
We rode the horses for 4-5 hours a day, 2 hours before lunch
and 2-3 hours after. We worked on gymkhana events and
riding techniques as well as control and even did some trail
class obstacles. In addition we played tons of games
and did one craft at the end of the day while we wound down
watching a movie. Sorry there aren't more photos - we
feel lucky we got any with the way Tammy looked that week!
The Billy Bob teeth were
hysterical! We cracked up when the kids put them on!
One of our big and fun
projects was painting the fence in-between the barns.
The kids got the whole thing painted and had fun doing it.
Nice plastic bags over your shoes girls!
Watching dressage .. except Sami - she's
posing as always!
Movie and Craft Room.
Sami was the hostest with
the mostest. Thank for the cup cakes Small Fry!
During each of the three
local fires this year we brought in several horses that
needed temporary housing (~25 total). The horse above
was one that stayed with us when his ranch was affected by
the first fire. Mike and Louise's ranch was completely
smoked out. The horse above came along with 11 of his
barn mates, all were spectacular horses. During camp,
Mike brought the horse back to work out in our arena.
We asked if we could watch and Mike was great, he took time
to explain his dressage moves to the kids and put on a very
impressive show for the kids to watch. Thank you Mike!
We felt fortunate that he chose a camp day to work his horse
out so we could all learn a little bit about dressage and
the athletic moves their horses are required to make.
